Rolex – Sky-Dweller – Green Dial – 336934 – 2024

The Sky-Dweller remains one of Rolex’s most sophisticated complications, and this 2024 example in reference 336934 showcases the collection’s technical prowess in its most distinctive modern iteration. The striking green dial—a signature reserved for Rolesor configurations—brings a contemporary edge to what is fundamentally a traveler’s tool watch. Introduced in 2012 as Rolex’s first annual calendar with dual time zone capability, the Sky-Dweller has evolved from polarizing curiosity to essential complication in the modern Rolex lineup. The two-tone Rolesor configuration balances precious metal refinement with everyday practicality, while the Jubilee bracelet—added to the Sky-Dweller family in 2023—transforms the presence from sporty tool to elegant travel companion.

The 42mm Oystersteel and white gold case houses the manufacture Caliber 9001, a movement representing fourteen patents and considerable innovation in mechanical calendar functionality. The Saros annual calendar system eliminates the need for monthly adjustment except once per year, tracking thirty and thirty-one day months through an ingenious system of gears. The Ring Command bezel provides the interface for setting functions, rotating to select date, local time, or reference time adjustments. Dual time zones display via eccentric off-center disc and traditional central hands, with month indicators appearing in twelve apertures around the dial perimeter. The seventy-two hour power reserve ensures the complex calendar mechanism maintains accuracy through a full weekend off the wrist. Sapphire crystal and hundred meter water resistance provide appropriate protection for a watch built for global travel.

At 42 mm the Sky-Dweller wears substantial but balanced, with the Jubilee bracelet articulating gracefully around the wrist and distributing weight more comfortably than the heavier Oystersteel variants. The green dial catches light with subtlety, neither as dramatic as the brand’s racing green nor as subdued as traditional darker tones—it occupies a middle ground that reads sophisticated in professional contexts while remaining distinctive to those who recognize it. For collectors pursuing complete modern Rolex complications or travelers requiring genuine dual-timezone functionality without daily adjustment, this reference delivers uncommon capability in an increasingly appreciated package. This is mechanical complexity executed with trademark Rolex reliability and restraint.
